The Lead Came Off

The weekend is almost over, and its been a busy one for me since the word go! But I just had to squeeze in one more post today as we had yet another brand new experience with Polly this morning that I’m so pleased to announce. We went to the dog park with my mum’s friends Dianne and Barry and their dog Rudy, and Polly has been itching to come off the lead for a few weeks now but we haven’t had the courage to do it. But while we had the added protection of another dog walking with her to keep in a pack plus a very enclosed park, I finally found the courage to unclip Polly’s lead and let her run free.

A Pug’s First Fun Dog Show

Good morning, I hope you’re all having a good weekend so far.  Yesterday, mum and I did something a little different with Polly Pug – we took her to her first charity dog show! Actually it was the first dog show that any of us had been to, but lets be honest yesterday wasn’t about the humans it was all about the dogs! And we saw plenty of those at the show yesterday. We had such good fun and it was in the name of charity which is always a bonus.

Little Red Riding Pug

You would not believe the day we had. After the forecast I read about on Twitter last night, I was anticipating noting but rain, rain, rain… so we slept in again this morning, which was fabulous. I didn’t sleep the whole way through the night because I got up at 3 in the morning when the rain had eased to take Polly to toilet. When we went to bed it was raining so hard that she refused to go. I couldn’t sleep knowing she hadn’t been so I was happy to take her out in the night when the rain wasn’t pouring down so hard. Polly thinks the rain stinks…

Pleasantly Surprised

The rain today was less than pleasant, but I was pleasantly surprised when Mum and I took Polly for a wet and windy walk around the fields this afternoon, which she loved! The weather is forecast to be bad all week, and the sky stayed very unchangeable all day. We kind of just decided now to get on with things despite the weather because we can’t keep Polly trapped inside for the whole week. I imagine that most dogs stayed firmly put in their beds looking out begrudgingly at the rain today, but not this one. So with our raincoats and wellies at the ready, (and a towel in the back of the car for Polly’s mucky return) the three of us took a walk through some of the fields behind Mote Park.

Bath Time

After Mucky Monday, comes Tidy Tuesday. Literally, a big tidy up was in order.  The floor outside our patio door was a mess where we were in and out with wet feet yesterday, so mum and I were busy scrubbing our home back into some sort of order this morning. It felt good once it was cleaned and vacuumed. Even if it did get dirty practically straight away again! My mum has very much enforced the rule of keeping the cleaning maintained regularly so it doesn’t build up. It feels like we’re always cleaning or hoovering and the house still gets messy, but at least we know that we try to keep it under control. This afternoon it started hailing again and Polly was due to go outside after a nap, but she wouldn’t budge unless someone took her. Who do you think that someone could be?

A Good Decision

Don’t you just love it when you look back on something, and think ‘Yes, I made a good decision there.’ I admit these moments aren’t common, but that just makes them even sweeter. I had this feeling rush over me yesterday evening when Polly and I came back from her obedience class. It was the end of an eight week course (we started a couple of weeks late mind you) and so it was an assessment night, reviewing how all the dogs are getting on.

Mid-Week Pick Me Ups

Wednesday meant one thing for me today: A mid-week pick me up. Yesterday I was sitting in the dining room at my laptop trying to write my essay, Polly was in her bed chewing her chew stick and I suddenly came over feeling completely down. This is so out of character for me, but I just sat in the dining room and had a good, long cry. Well it wasn’t good, I actually felt pretty miserable and I didn’t really know why – I haven’t got any reason to feel down but I just did.

Pug Stats–Twelve Weeks

Growing, growing … grown? Welcome back to my weekly series of Pug Statistics – a post all about how my pug puppy is developing according to the tape measure, scales and from her keen mum’s observations. So Polly enters her twelfth week today and her pug life is really starting to get quite exciting for her and for us. A few stand out moments of the last week were introducing Polly to some family, a second trip to the vets and a dog training class. More on this later in the post, first up some comparative pictures to see how my puppy has got on over the weeks. Tape measure at the ready.
